A Lovely Day at Tamworth Book Shop

Sunday was a perfect day for a drive to one of Southern Ontario’s most charming villages, and for an hour or two under the tree that shades the most delightful book shop of all, Tamworth Book Shop. I read from Lady Franklin of Russell Square in bare feet, and my fellow reader was none other than Kingston’s celebrated poet warrior Bruce Kauffman, reading from his new book, an evening absence still waiting for moon.

Here’s one from Bruce’s latest collection that describes so perfectly the ineffable beauty, and the easy presence of the afternoon:

to fully be

to be at the same time
so completely unfocused
and intuitively aware
that you catch the
most minute shift of light
against any single leaf
before even
its shadow does
